Community Engagement

Intro

Circular Design Lab (CDL) started as a social experiment that invited citizens from all walks of life to learn about systemic design-thinking tools and use them to prototype circular solutions in Bangkok. In less than 12 months, an idea sparked by a handful of people has since evolved into a grassroots community that includes 20 active members and has brought together more than 150 others across meetups, events and design-thinking workshops.

The Shift

CDL was my first dive into circular economy field and a self-managed organization. Coming from a multinational corporation I was used to clearly defined roles, timelines, and extensive organizational structures. However, I quickly adjusted to a more agile approach that embraces uncertainty, evolutionary development and fast decision-making.

My Role

My sweet spot in the self-managed team is that of an innovator and a project manager who gathers and documents ideas, divides workstreams and creates tools to empower individual members to take action and drive circular economy projects forward. There is nothing more motivating to me than working with passionate people who want to do work that creates positive impact. Just like the rest of the community members, I am driven by intrinsic motivation to contribute to the society, improve the lives of local communities and to shift the economy towards more circular practices.

What's Next For Me

Currently, I am involved in the development of an experiential marketing campaign against air pollution, prototyping a household organic waste recovery model and consulting community members on fundraising practices and go-to-market strategies for their own circular projects.
