Visual Communications

You mean you didn't hire an agency?

Intro

Whether you are in marketing, sales, PR or even IT, chances are you have endured a terrible PowerPoint presentation where boredom was followed by frustration, then anger that it took an hour - or possibly even more – precious time of your life that you will never get back. What makes it difficult to engage the audience? And what can we do to make the experience pleasant every time?

My Approach

According to studies, people tend to remember about 20 percent of what they read and only 20 percent of what they hear. In comparison, the same studies have shown that people tend to remember an impressive 80 percent of what they see and do.

When it comes to presentations before I even start making one, I am already thinking about the template that would speak to the audience, about the perfect font, imagery, infographics, colour combinations. It does take a lot of time and maybe more time than it sometimes should, but I would rather stay up all night than deliver a presentation that will be forgotten as soon as observers exist the room or close the slide deck.

What's Next For Me

Throughout the years, I have developed numerous pitch decks, portfolio catalogues, activation toolkits, educational infographics and visual sales tools. What made me feel that my design adds value was a reoccurring question from experienced marketers “what agency did you use to create this?” At that point I knew that visual storytelling is an area I can excel in marketing.

I am looking to apply my presentation skills in the area I care most about – social impact. My recent work involves a sponsorship deck for wildlife conservation campaign, pitch deck to attract funding for an app tackling ocean plastic pollution, interactive info board to inspire environmentally conscious lifestyles in Bangkok, and content for design and systems-thinking workshop on circular economy.
